Just got back from the Texas Hill Country. Had a good time with family and friends. My wife and son and I drove out to Canyon Lake this past Thursday and spent three days and two nights. We stayed in a great little cabin on the lake at the Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Area.
Thursday afternoon we went to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Park and spent a few hours driving through and feeding all the animals they have there. I would highly recommend taking the family to go and experience this little adventure.
Friday morning we went into New Braunfels and took the kiddo to the McKenna Children's Museum. They have so much to see and do. Kids can "shop" at a grocery store, go "camping", or play doctor or astronaut. There is a water flow table where you can place dams and stop or redirect the flow of water and see the effects downstream. They have lots of activities for children of all ages, my wife and I even had a good time playing and experiencing everything with our son.
Friday evening we made our way to the Blanco High School football field for the graduation ceremony. I feel this part needs a little back story, so bear with me for a moment. The reason for our trip was the graduation of a friend of my wife's family, Clint. He is the son of my wife's next door neighbors. My mother-in-law would watch him when he was a baby and to this day he calls her Nannie Anne. A few years ago they moved to Blanco, but have stayed in touch with my wife's family.
Saturday morning we got up and checked out of our cabin and headed back to Blanco. We met up with my mother-in-law and Clint's mom and other members of her family to go and enjoy the nice weather and swim in the Blanco river. The water was cold, but refreshing. After lunch, we packed up, said goodbye and got back on the road for the drive back to Alvin. All and all, it was a good trip, and I enjoy the Texas Hill Country everytime I go out there.
