So I have decide to start a blog, I know, not a real original idea, but an idea none the less. In this day and age, it seems that everyone from preschoolers to grandparents are online, so I figured why not add my own two cents.
To start this little adventure of right, allow me to introduce myself. I am a husband, and father, and a bit of a nerd-herd. That's my wife's term for my affliction, nerd-herd. I took slight offense to it at first, but have come to imbrace the title. As the term implies, I am a sci-fi fan, from Issac Asimov to Gene Roddenberry to Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, I like sci-fi. I even enjoy a good spoof of sci-fi. I am also a fan of reading, so as you may guess I am a huge fan of LeVar Burton. The man who helped me, more than anyone outside of my Mom, to love reading books as a child and as an actor in the re-birth of a classic scf-fi tv show, Geordi LaForge on Star Trek.
As a member of the nerd-herd, I also love technology, although my role as a father to a 2 yr old tends to put a crimp on the amount of technology I get to enjoy first-hand these days. (It never ceases to amaze me how much a loving parent will put aside their passions/dreams/desires to focus on their children.) I would trade all the latest gadgets and gizmos and iPads for the chance to spend more time playing with my son.
It seems that I have moved along to the other thing in my life that I cant get enough of, my family. My world revoleves around my wife and son. As I said earlier, my son is 2, and he is a silly, silly little boy! Nothing in this small world brings me more joy than watching him figure out something for the first time. We read books, watch movies (mostly the Pixar variety) and play with toy cars, trucks, and trains. We watch the Texas A&M Aggies, the Astros and the Texans, then go outside and play ball.
Well, this seems to be a good start to a project that I have no plan for, so I shall end this episode and say good night.
